About

Line cook turned TikTok's favourite home-kitchen teacher, now running a hot-sauce company with 40 employees.

Diego Ruiz was working the line at a taqueria in Austin when he propped a phone on a shelf and filmed dinner because he was bored. Four years later the sauce he made for one video ships to 30,000 kitchens a month and the company employs forty people, most of them from the restaurant industry he came from.

He still films in the same kitchen, with the same phone on the same shelf.

Why we featured Diego

Most food creators sell the fantasy of the kitchen. Ruiz sells the kitchen itself, bored and real, and turned one joke sauce into a company with forty employees without changing the shelf his phone sits on.
